Inside the Owens River Gorge grotto & abandoned power plant #2.
The old road to access the gorge was washed out so I had to park and hike.
On my way down I saw a guy who I could tell wasn’t doing so well making his way up the steep trail. He was extremely dehydrated, so I let him have one of my waters. I stayed with him for about 15 minutes until he was able to continue up the trail. He’s the small black dot towards the top of the photo. The hike in and out of the gorge is very deceiving. Make sure you bring plenty of water and pace yourself, especially during the summer months.
The other abandoned power plant I was unable to find on my last trip.
I’m glad I didn’t disobey the sign. I found out my friends dad got a $800 ticket for breaking another rule in the gorge.
It actually fooled me from far away.
The old rock house control room for power plant #2.
We saw the grotto on our last trip but didn’t have time to check it out.
This time I was ready for it.
Underground river inside the grotto.
The grotto was bigger than I imagined.
The hike on the way back was a bitch. Way hotter than the last time and with less water. I also accidentally went up the wrong path which caused a brief moment of freak out and a few extra asthma attacks. Until next time ORG.
